Rob Barnard
Chief Executive Officer & Chief Investment OfficerRob has over 26 years of alternative investment experience and currently serves as Black Maple’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer. Prior to joining the Investment Manager, Mr. Barnard served in various roles, including Portfolio Manager, Principal, and Deputy CIO for Stark Investments. During his tenure at Stark Investments, Mr. Barnard managed portfolios and teams across a range of strategies, including credit, distressed, convertibles, event equity, ABS, and reinsurance, among others. He holds an Honors MBA (1993) and a BS with High Distinction (1990) from Indiana University.Tony Nimani
Portfolio Manager & Chief Risk OfficerTony has over 17 years of alternative investment experience and currently serves as a Portfolio Manager and the Chief Risk Officer of Black Maple, focusing primarily on equity derivatives, macro investments, event-focused investments and risk management. Prior to joining the Black Maple, at its founding, Mr. Nimani served in various roles at Stark Investments, including Chief Risk Officer and as a member of the global Portfolio Committee. Mr. Nimani holds a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance (2004) and a BBA in Finance (1999) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.Kevin Roth, CPA
Portfolio ManagerKevin has approximately 27 years of investment experience and currently serves as a Portfolio Manager at BMC. He is responsible for sourcing new investment ideas, research and reviewing portfolio allocations. Prior to BMC, Kevin was a Senior Portfolio Manager for Allstate Insurance Company. For approximately nine years, he oversaw stressed/defaulted corporate and municipal bonds owned by the captive insurance companies and external CLO clients. He also covered HY Financial credits for the below investment grade group. Prior to Allstate, Kevin worked for Stark Investments and a subsequent spin-out for approximately twelve years as a Portfolio Manager and Senior Research Analyst in the Distressed Debt and Special Situations group. Prior to graduate school, Kevin was a Director of Acquisitions for a Canadian real estate operating company that is now part of Brookfield Properties, where he was involved in in over $1B in commercial real estate transactions. Kevin started his career with Ernst & Young, providing audit and consulting services to clients.
He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BBA degree and received his MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Kevin has served on six Boards of Directors throughout his career – three of which are in the banking sector and the balance in the energy sector. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has dormant securities and real estate brokerage licenses.Brian Stark
